SYNESTHESIA is an interactive light & sound installation.
(Synesthesia - often described as “crossing of the senses” - is a phenomenon in which information meant to stimulate one sense stimulates several senses, such as hearing colours, feeling sounds or tasting shapes).
Designed for a dark area flooded with water, the art work incorporates 40 illuminated glass tubes - scattered across the space in disordered compositions, piercing through the water surface. A pathway out of metal grid allows the visitors to walk in between and experience the chaos of arrow-shaped reflections from up close.
When a spectator passes certain points, motion detectors trigger the transmission of experimental sounds. Specific frequencies generate vibrations causing a diverse array of patterns, ripples & dancing drops on the surface near the tubes, highlighted by their glow.
